I worked for a British bank which operates in more than 40 countries and employs 90,000 colleagues.

In 2022, I was employed by a globally recognised financial services company on a fixed-term basis as an Employee Communications Business Partner, and I was made permanent in 2023.

As the dedicated Comms Partner for the global Compliance (1,400 colleagues) and Internal Audit (700 colleagues) functions, my role was to strategicall advise, plan, create, deliver and measure all colleague communications.

These needed to balance the strategic priorities of the functions with leaders’ messaging, group-wide agendas, the topics that mattered most to colleagues, and full year / quarterly data.

Examples of my work included:

  • Presenting quarterly insights to Compliance and Audit’s senior leadership teams, and making data-driven recommendations to improve employee sentiment

  • Creating and executing all multi-channel employee communications, including social content, global town halls, emails and videos, then tracking engagement to measure impact

  • Audit’s Employee Net Promoter Score (measuring how strongly colleagues recommend Audit as a place to work) increased from +5 in Q4 2023 to +24 in Q1 2024

  • Planning and delivering leadership comms for the newly appointed Group Chief Compliance Officer, including event talking points, email and social copy

  • Editing colleague recognition videos for Compliance and Internal Audit’s quarterly global town halls. Average attendance at Compliance’s town halls rose from 67% in 2022 to 70% in 2023

  • Recommending and implementing changes to Internal Audit’s monthly newsletter – click-through rates increased to 12% (against an external benchmark of 10%)
